My goal as a painter is to create an evocative image, a painting which will elicit an emotional as well as an intellectual response from the viewer

Brent McCarthy - Biography Brent's passion for art began in early childhood and was nurtured throughout his adolescent years. as a teen growing up in the culturally lush environs of his hometown New Orleans in the late 70's Brent was fortunate to learn under the tutelage of the noted portraitist Benjamin Ploger and the Realist Edward A. Burg. As he developed the drafting skills necessary to confidently render the human form, Brent honed his skills painting portraits on Jackson Square in the historic French Quarter. In the 80's he created a series of cityscapes which celebrates historic landmarks of the Vieux Carre. The resulting lithographs are among the most collected images ever created of the Crescent City.
As an adult Brent has broadened his interest in the human form as well as the human condition. In the 1990's He earned both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Behavioral Science. As a result, Brent incorporates his life lessons into every painting he makes. Today Brent lives in the Texas Hill country with his wife and two daughters. These ladies demonstrate infinite patience and tolerance with Dad's frequent modeling requests.
